Casentino cloth is probably one of the oldest fabrics still in use. It originated in the Middle Ages as a wool for cloaks, so much so that legend has it that Saint Francis himself and his followers were among the first to wear it. At the end of the 19th century, with the invention of the ratting machine, it acquired the characteristic curl that makes it unmistakable. It's incredible to think that even today, the same machines built between 1865 and 1871 are still in use, indispensable for producing this fabric, whose most notable characteristics are its waterproofness and durability. Available in classic orange and green, with the addition of the more fashionable fuchsia and cream, Casentino is perfect for coats, jackets, and even for furnishing.
