Description

Cashmere comes from a goat (Capra hircus), also known locally as pashmina, which is raised on the Himalayan plateaus in Mongolia. It has a very dense, soft fleece that allows it to survive temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius at altitudes above 4,000 meters. Note that only the wool under the belly and around the neck is spun into garments. This gives us the pleasant sensation of softness, lightness, and warmth when we wrap ourselves in cashmere—the same sensation that surprised Marco Polo during his long journey to distant, mysterious China in the 13th century.
