Tencel Lyocell Tropical Flowers - Copacabana

The history of Tencel, or Lyocell, is a relatively recent one. Patented in 1972 by the American giant, Nka, it never found widespread acceptance in the world of high fashion and ready-to-wear until the brand was acquired in the late 1980s by the Austrian company Lenzing, which distributes the yarn and markets the Tencel Lyocell brand. The cornerstones of its rediscovery and appreciation were its successful frosted finish, which makes it very similar to washed silk; its high breathability; its extraction from cellulose derived exclusively from the eucalyptus plant; and, last but not least, its low environmental impact in production, given that Tencel fiber requires the complete recycling of all solvents used during its manufacturing process.
